A revitalized the Russian player secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial tour title, gained dominance to create a decider.

He saved 4 early chances in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
